In 1995 Roy started work on a freelance basis providing a display service to museums, working in the UK and abroad. Highlights of this period were the display of manuscripts in the permanent Treasures Gallery at the British Library, permanent Galleries at the National Army Museum , temporary exhibitions in Oxford at the Bodleian Library and object mounting at The Hong Kong Jockey Club in Happy Valley .
In 1998 Roy was invited back to Plowden and Smith Ltd, becoming an Associate Director responsible for the development and management of the exhibitions department. This period led to involvement in major new build museum projects such as the New Museum of Scotland, Think Tank in Birmingham and the new Chester Beatty Library in Dublin Castle.
The latest venture, The Museum Workshop Ltd has been driven by a desire to remain hands on in the workshop and on-site, and fully involved with every project.
Roy tutors the "Mounting Museum Objects Course" organised by Jim Black at International Academic Projects. He has a Bachelors degree in Creative Arts and a Post Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies from Leicester University . |
